FIRE DEPARTMENT^:   Griggsville is fortunate to have an excellent volunteer fire department.  Fire Chief Larry Bradshaw has worked hard to improve the capabilities of the volunteers.  Recently the fire department completed a new addition to the facility which houses three pumper trucks, 1 new water tanker, 1 brush truck and a rescue unit.  The continued training that the volunteers participate in insure that the citizens are protected to the fullest.   The department meets regularly the second Tuesday of each month.  If you are interested in joining the department, you may attend a meeting or contact the fire chief.   Coming soon is a Fire Department Web Page.  Please check back.

       WATER & SEWER DEPT.:  Griggsville provides its own water and sewer service to the residents of Griggsville.  The bills are mailed around the 20^th of each month.  Payment is due by the 10^th of the following month.  If the bill is not paid, a 10% penalty is added to the bill and service will be disconnected if not paid by the 20^th of each month.  There is a reconnect fee of $25.00 for service to be reinstated.  There is a $50.00 deposit if you are just renting a residence in Griggsville.  Contact City Hall for more information.

       ELECTRIC & NATURAL GAS:  This service is provided by AmerenCIPS.  For information contact them at 888-789-2477.

       TELEPHONE:  Telephone service is provided by Verizon North.  They can be reached at 800-483-4000.  There are also several cell phone carriers located in the area for you to choose from.

       CABLE:  The local cable company is Rapid Cable and they can be reached at 765-832-3586. Griggsville is also served by several local dish providers.

       CHURCHES:  All Churches extend an invitation to join their services!!

Ø       The United Methodist Church is located at 115 S. Stanford St. in Griggsville and is a member of the Bright Star Parish.  Sunday School is at 9:15 followed by Worship Service at 10:30 each Sunday morning.  Contact Reverend Michael Abel at 217-833-2575 for more information.

Ø       The Church of the Nazarene is at 116 E. Quincy St. in Griggsville.  You can contact at the church at 217-833-2342. Sunday services are –  Sunday School 9:30, Sunday Worship 10:30 and evening service 6:30 p.m.  They also offer an evening Bible Study service at 7:00 each Wedneday  night.

Ø       The Christian Church is at 113 N. Stanford Street in Griggsville.  Services are Sunday School at 9:15 followed by Sunday Worship at 10:00 each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening at 7:00.  Pastor Harold Smith can be contacted at 217-833-2668 for more information. 

Ø       Regular Baptist Church is located at 207 S. Stanford Street.  Services are as follows:  Sunday School 9:30, Sunday Worship 10:45, Evening Worship 6:30 and Wednesday Prayer Meeting 7:00.  Contact the Church at 217-833-2542.

       LIBRARY:  The Griggsville Public Library is located at 107 S. Corey Street.  The library was built in 1916 as a gift from the Carnegie Foundation. Current library  hours are Monday and Thursday from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. , Tuesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.  The library offers a wide selection of books, magazines and education material for the residents.
