Following is a list of events and attractions happening in Griggsville for 2008!!

 
  • Western Illinois Fair (June 25 - 29, 2008)  - Griggsville is home to the Western Illinois Fair held the third week of June each year.  A major highlight of the fair is the bus demolition derby held on Saturday evening.  The fair offers  something for everyone - petting zoo, demo derbies, fantastic midway rides, horse racing, motor cross and a wide variety of concession stands.   Come and enjoy one of the longest running fairs in the State of Illinois.
  • Griggsville Apple Festival (Sept. 19 & 20, 2008) - Come and enjoy a fun filled weekend to renew old acquaintances and make new ones in Griggsville.  On Friday evening enjoy the pageants and contests then return on Saturday for the magnificant mile parade and musical entertainment.  A variety of food stands, crafts and flea market booths are available.  Contact Janice Sneeden at 833-2637 for more information. 
  • Pike County Fall Color Drive (Oct. 18 & 19, 2008) - Tour Griggsville as a stop on your drive around Pike County to enjoy the wonderful fall colors.  Griggsville is a major stop along the highway offering an assortment of food, crafts and yard sales around town.  
  • Griggsville Park - A beautiful location for your family get together and group activity.  A  perfect place for kids to play on the playground equipment, tennis courts and basketball courts surrounded by acres of luscious trees that provide shade and enjoyment for everyone.  The park offers three shelter houses that provide an excellent place for a picnic.  These are available on a first come first served basis.
  • Skinner House  - The Griggsville Preservation & Restoration Society purchased this home, which was built in 1858, from the grand-daughter of D.W.O. Skinner who had owned the home since 1906.  The home was restored in 1982 and is used as a community center and genealogy society for the Griggsville Geonological Group.  The home located at 106 N. Stanford St. is open for visitors Tuesday & Wednesday morning and Thursday and Friday afternoon for your viewing.  You may also reserve the home for your meetings and family and business activities.  Contact Rosie at 833-2724 to reserve.  
  • Griggsville Fireman's Memorial Day Dinner (May 26, 2008) - The Griggsville Volunteer Fire Department holds an annual fundraiser on Monday of Memorial Day weekend.  They provide an excellent meal of chicken, world-famous fish, potato salad, baked beans and dessert.  This is by donation only.  Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion located on the south side of Griggsville just off of highway 107.
